Knight Time

I finally finished pages 14 & 15 last night! There were a lot of horses! This is from pages 12 & 13, and I realized that I had forgotten to post something from that painting. This is from a photo, the colors look better in person. Another week has flown by. Hopefully I will be able to relax with the fam and get some drawing and painting in ( I would love to finish another illustration by the end of the weekend). Hope everyone has a groovy weekend! Oh, poll results: most seemed to think that Mr. Owl was off his nut, and that 3 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop is not entirely accurate. Wise old owl.....

Frog Prince

This reminds me a lot of a poster I designed for Heart Week in High School. I think I might still have one of the posters around here someplace... it is kind of funny. I'll try to post it sometime. The Loft Festival this past weekend was great! It wore me out, though. So much great information.... I didn't end up with a big headache like I usually do when I attend conferences, but I was pretty wiped out. I had two portfolio reviews that went pretty well; so I will keep on drawing and painting and growing as much as I can. Finished inking an illo for the book today, I will let it rest and start painting tomorrow. I should let myself rest, too, I almost fell asleep drawing this afternoon! Yikes!

Tea Time

Posted by Picasa

I really love a nice cup of tea. Most of my friends give me a hard time because of the way I take it: loads of sugar and milk (half & half is a treat), with a little room left over for tea. My Mom was British, so this is the way I have had it since I was little. Now I am thinking about comfort foods... Shepherd's Pie with Bread Pudding for dessert along with a nice cup of tea.

Sounds delightful!

p.s. The Marshmallow Peep was elected a foe in our last poll. Oh, dear!

Springtime

Dare we hope that spring might actually be here? I saw a few blades of grass today, that has to be a good sign! This is a bit of a new little project that I recently finished, my first attempt at adding color entirely in Photoshop. I actually sketched this butterfly at the Como Zoo last summer. Gearing up to start painting another illustration, and excited to be attending the Festival of Children's and Young Adult Literature & Illustration at The Loft Literary Center this weekend. Hope that you are all doing well! What are you up to this week?

Princess

Oh, Yes! The Oxi Clean and Kaboom! guy is indeed way too loud- thanks for voting, people!
Here is a princess from the book. What are we celebrating today??? It is almost Friday!!! I started illustration no. 11 yesterday.... almost halfway done! I also finished another little project that might have potential, I'll start posting bits of it here and there. Make sure to vote in our next random poll: The Marshmallow Peep.

Purring Cat

The book is not about cats, specifically.... but happens to feature one that lives with us. And, this is the same cat that really is my sister's cat. The same cat I was cat-sitting when she was out-of-town. The same cat who ate a plastic thingy and obstructed his intestines and required surgery to extract said obstruction. The kind vet who removed this obstruction is the one-and-only Dr. Philly Cheese whose engagement to the lovely Amy inspired me to create the Cheese Cake. The Cheese Cake postcard landed at Alma Little and landed me my first book. So, it seems only fitting that Gus Gus should find a place in it, because he has had a hand, or paw, in it from the beginning.

Quentin Blake

Looks like the Goose and Gray Duck poll was a toss-up! I am sure my Gray Duck vote cancelled out my husband's Goose vote....
I love, love, love Quentin Blake's artwork and thought I'd post a link to his website so you can check it out. I could watch "Quentin In Action" every single day.
